Luciadagen - Happy St. Lucia Day!

St. Lucia Day (Dec. 13th) is one of the shortest days of the year and marks the beginning of Christmas in Sweden. (As many of you know Monte served a 2 year church mission in Sweden). St. Lucia was a young woman in the 1st century who was known for her kindness and love. It is said that she would go out early in the morning and bring food and drink to the poor. She wore white robes with a crown of light. Lucia means "light". So for several years now, Madison (the oldest daughter), has dressed up as Santa Lucia and brings Monte breakfast in bed, as is the tradition in Sweden.

Props for broadening the cultural scope of the holidays.

My sister lived in Sweden for a while and she is now getting married to a Swede. We are all going out for the wedding. I will have to pic Monte's brain about the place before we go.
